Broken Dreams: Auto shop owner beset by break-ins, frustrated by police
In late 2008, Rod Whaley opened his dream auto restoration shop in Empire with his wife, Lenore Ulrich. Since then they've had more than 20 break-ins at Classic Dreams. He estimates that burglars have taken off with or damaged some $200,000 worth of cars, parts, tools and accessories.

Business news briefs: Ford truck sales continue climbing
Ford said sales of its F-Series pickups rose 40% in July, the best month since March 2008. Sales of smaller, fuel-efficient cars declined. Sales industrywide likely rose 3% to 4% in July and were slightly above the 11.1 million-vehicle annual rate in June, George Pipas, Ford's sales analyst, said Friday.
